Refresh your brand from your website

Brand refresh reads your website again and updates your brand profile, on demand or once a month, and keeps your own edits.

Brand refresh reads your website again and updates your brand profile, so Erlin keeps describing the business as it is today. Run it by hand, or let Erlin run it once a month.

Refresh now, or let Erlin refresh your brand every month

Where to find it

Open Brand > Overview. The Brand refresh card sits at the bottom of the Company tab, under Social profiles. Its subtitle reads "Erlin reads your website again and updates your brand."

The card is available on paid plans. On Free, it shows "Your plan doesn't include brand refresh" with a link to upgrade. See Plans and billing.

Refresh now

Click Refresh now. The card shows "Reading your website" while Erlin works, then lists what happened. Next to the button, the card shows "Last updated" with the date, or "Not updated yet", and how many times the brand has been refreshed.

Erlin reads your homepage and key pages again and refreshes four parts of your profile: Company, Products and services, Customer sentiment and Brand voice.

What changes and what stays

After a refresh, the card says "Updated" followed by the number of sections, and names the fields that changed. If nothing changed, it says "Nothing changed on your site."

Erlin protects what you wrote:

  • Your edits stay. A field you edited yourself keeps your value. The card says "Kept your edits to" and names the fields.
  • Short lists stay. If Erlin finds a list that is much shorter than the one you have, it keeps your current list and says "Kept your current" followed by the field name. Edit the list on the page if it should shrink.
  • Business type, location and the brand voice style are kept. Erlin does not overwrite them. Business type and location can come back as suggestions. For business type, the card says your site now suggests a type, and shows a Use this button. Click it to apply the suggestion. See Business type.

If a refresh makes a mistake, use Undo.

Undo a refresh

After a refresh that changed something, the card shows Undo. Click it to restore the previous values. Undo is available for 30 days after the refresh. It restores only fields you have not edited since, and it does not give the month's refresh back. The card then reads "This refresh was undone".

Refresh every month

Turn on Update my brand every month to let Erlin refresh the brand for you. It is off until you turn it on, and it is set per brand.

When it is on, Refresh day appears. Click it to choose a day of the month from 1 to 28. Erlin runs the refresh around 2:00 AM UTC on that day, and the card shows "Next refresh on" with the date. Days 29 to 31 are not offered, so every month has your day.

When an automatic refresh changes something, Erlin sends you a notification: "We refreshed" your brand "from its website and updated" the number of sections. "Open Company to review." Open it to see what changed.

Limits

  • Paid plans only. Brand refresh is not part of the Free plan.
  • One refresh per brand per calendar month. Manual and automatic refreshes share it, and so does everyone who works on the brand. After a refresh, the card says "You can refresh again on" the first available date. Dates follow UTC.
  • A result with no changes counts. If Erlin reads your site and finds nothing new, that uses the month's refresh.
  • A failed refresh does not count. If Erlin cannot read your website, the card says "We could not read your website this time. This did not use your refresh for the month." Click Try again.
  • Repeated failures pause it. If a brand's refresh you start does not finish three times in a month, the card says "This brand's refresh did not finish a few times this month. Try again next month, or edit it on this page."
  • Too many at once. If many refreshes are running, Erlin says "Brand refresh is busy right now. Try again in a few minutes."
  • Already done by someone else. If a teammate or an earlier automatic run already refreshed the brand this month, the card says "This brand was already refreshed this month."

Plans that use your own key

On plans that bring their own OpenRouter key, including lifetime plans, brand refresh runs on your key and uses no credits. See API keys.

If your key is not ready, the card shows a Needs your key tag and a notice in the top bar: "Brand refresh needs your OpenRouter key."

NoticeAction
"Your plan runs brand refresh on your own OpenRouter key, and no key is added yet. Add your key to refresh this brand."Add your key
"Your OpenRouter key is not working, so brand refresh cannot run. Update your key to refresh this brand."Fix your key
"Your OpenRouter balance is too low to refresh this brand. Add credit on OpenRouter and try again."Open API keys

A blocked refresh does not use the month's refresh. If monthly refresh is on, the card adds "Your next monthly refresh will be skipped until your OpenRouter key works." A skipped refresh shows "Skipped, no working key", and Erlin sends a notification: "Your monthly brand refresh for" your brand "was skipped. Add or fix your OpenRouter key so it can run next time."

The steps of each refresh appear in OpenRouter key usage under Settings > Billing, named Company details, Customer sentiment, Products and services and Brand voice.

Continue with Review your business profile for the fields a refresh updates, or API keys to add or fix your OpenRouter key.
