Frequently asked questions
What is an SEO MCP server?
An SEO MCP server connects an AI assistant to SEO tools and data. Erlin uses this connection to bring your AI visibility, competitor, and search performance data into Claude, so you can ask questions in plain language.
Which apps can I connect to Erlin?
Erlin documents connections for Claude Desktop and Claude Code. In Claude Desktop, add Erlin through Connectors and sign in. For Claude Code, follow the setup guide and use an Erlin API key.
Do I need a paid Erlin plan?
You can connect with a free or paid Erlin account. The prebuilt slash-command reports require a paid plan. Available data depends on your account, and actions such as running new visibility checks use Erlin credits.
Can Claude access my Search Console and Google Analytics data?
Yes, once you connect Google Search Console or Google Analytics 4 in Erlin. Ask about clicks, queries, page traffic, and performance changes. Claude can read the stored data or request a fresh sync, which uses credits.
Can I run new checks, or only read existing reports?
You can do both. Review existing results, create tracked prompts, and run visibility checks across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Mode, Gemini, and Copilot. Reading existing data does not use credits. Creating prompts and running checks do.
Can it write or publish content for me?
Erlin’s MCP tools identify content issues and recommend improvements. They do not provide the article creation or publishing workflow available elsewhere in Erlin. Use the AI Content product for that work.
Is my data stored on the MCP server?
No. The MCP server fetches data from your Erlin account and passes it to Claude without storing it on the server itself. That does not describe how Claude stores or handles your conversations.
How current are the answers?
Answers use the data available in your Erlin account. Analytics reports show their date range. You can request a fresh Google Analytics or Search Console sync, or run new visibility checks, when you need an update.
